Call for Papers
On behalf of the Iranian Society of Mechanical Engineers (ISME), it is our great pleasure to invite you to submit abstracts (maximum 400 words) to the 18th Annual International Conference on Mechanical Engineering (ISME2010) which will take place on May 11-13, 2010. School of Mechanical Engineering at Sharif University of Technology will host the conference under the auspices of the Iranian Society of Mechanical Engineers (ISME).
The goal of this conference is to provide a forum for researchers, scientists and practitioners from all over the world to exchange information, present new ideas, expand international cooperation and discuss the future directions and priorities in the areas of mechanical engineering and related topics. Although the majority of sessions are in the usual oral presentation format, other types of sessions include panel discussions, open forums, posters and tutorials. Leading researchers from academia, R&D organizations and industries from Iran and other countries are expected to participate in this conference.
Papers dealing with various aspects of mechanical engineering from fundamental sciences to applications in engineering systems are solicited.

Background
The ISME2010 is a part of the ISME annual international conference series that is organized by the Sharif University of Technology. The previous ISMEs conferences were held in Tehran University 1993, Sharif University of Technology 1994, Amirkabir University of Technology 1995, Shiraz University 1996, Tabriz University 1997, Iran University of Science and Technology 1998, Sistan and Baluchestan University 1999, Sharif University of Technology 2000, Guilan University 2001, Khajeh Nasireddin Toosi University of Technology 2002, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad 2003, Tarbiat Modarres University 2004, Isfahan University of Technology 2005 and 2006, Amirkabir University of Technology 2007, Kerman University 2008 and Tehran University 2009.

The school of mechanical engineering of Sharif University of Technology has started its activities since 1966 and takes its pride in educating more than 4000 engineers at B.Sc, M.Sc and Ph.D levels since its establishment.
Abu Ali Sina (980-1037) was a Persian polymath and the foremost physician and philosopher of his time. Sina is regarded as a father of modern medicine and clinical pharmacology.
Azadi (Freedom) Tower Symbol of Tehran, marks the entrance to the city. Built in 1971, it is 50m tall and is completely clad in cut marble. Azadi Tower combines Sassanid and Islamic architecture styles.
Omar Khayyam (1048-1123) was a Persian mathematician, philosopher, astronomer and poet. Outside Iran, Khayyam has had impact on literature and societies through translation and works of scholars.
Milad Tower Tallest tower in Iran. Built in between the Shahrak-e Gharb and Gisha districts of Tehran, it stands 435m high from base to tip of the antenna.
Al Khwarazmi (780-850) was a Persian mathematician, astronomer and scholar. He is considered the founder of algebra. Algorithm is the Latin form of his name.
Damavand Mount Highest peak in Iran with a special place in Persian mythology and folklore. In the middle Alborz Range, it is the highest point in the Middle East and the highest volcano in all of Asia.
Zakariya Razi (865-925) was a Persian chemist, physician and philosopher. Razi is known for his discovery of ethanol and its refinement to use in medicine.
